Raj Ratwani
MA Psychology '04, PhD '08
Raj Ratwani, is vice president of scientific affairs at the MedStar Health Research Institute, director of the MedStar Health National Center for Human Factors in Healthcare, and professor of emergency medicine at the Georgetown University School of Medicine. His career is dedicated to advancing healthcare by improving patient safety and transforming how digital technologies are designed, implemented, and integrated into care delivery.
Ratwani operates at the nexus of applied research, clinical innovation, and healthcare operations. He has secured more than $20 million in research funding, authored more than 120 peer-reviewed publications, and his work has been featured in Fortune Magazine, National Public Radio, and documentary films.
He earned his PhD in human factors and applied cognition from George Mason University and completed a National Research Council postdoctoral fellowship at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Ratwani enjoys traveling, long-distance running, and spending quality time with his wife and two children.
