Harold A. Geller

Dr. Harold A. Geller is associate professor emeritus, physics and astronomy, at George Mason University. He is also an adjunct in physics at American University and Mason; at large director, George Mason University Alumni Association; and solar system ambassador for the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He was the founding director of Mason’s astronomical observatory. Between 2011 and 2015 he served as co-investigator for the Virginia Initiative for Science Teaching and Achievement (VISTA). In 2009 and 2010 he was recipient of six Telly Awards for online educational videos produced. In 2008 he was named Mason Faculty Member of the Year. From 2006 to 2008, Geller served as the associate chair of the Department of Physics and Astronomy.  
 
He has also served as president of the Potomac Geophysical Society; tour guide and lecturer with the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center; producer of educational multimedia CD-ROMs; faculty at Northern Virginia Community College; doctoral fellow of the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia; and lecturer/operator at the Einstein Planetarium in the Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.  
 
Geller has also authored/edited seven books and published over 100 papers in education, astrobiology, astrophysics, and biochemistry. He has been interviewed or quoted by USA Today, the Washington Post, Huffington Post, WTOP News Radio, News Channel 8, and The Skeptic.
