Sarah Nawab, Esq.

BA Government and International Politics '16

Sarah Nawab graduated from George Mason University in winter 2016 and proceeded to attend Northeastern University School of Law (NUSL) to pursue her juris doctor. While attending NUSL, she undertook internships in the areas of civil rights, criminal defense, and prisoners' rights. Upon graduating from NUSL, she was awarded an Equal Justice Works fellowship, one of the most competitive fellowships for new lawyers in the country. This fellowship has allowed Nawab to work with Prisoners' Legal Services of Massachusetts on a project serving incarcerated women. Nawab advocates on behalf of incarcerated women in Massachusetts and serves their unique legal needs through trauma-informed legal services, rights education, policy reform, and increasing public awareness. As a woman of color, she is motivated to advocate on behalf of her fellow women of color, many of whom are disproportionately impacted by criminal and carceral systems. Sarah is a proud abolitionist and approaches her work through that lens.
