Bio: William worked for Boeing Computer Services as a mainframe systems programmer from June, 1972, to December, 1986.  Inspiration from Professor Deborah Boehm-Davis and the Software Psychology Society (which met at George Washington University) encouraged his interest in human factors in software and resulted in improvements in Boeing's and IBM's offerings.  While at VM Software from December, 1986, to February, 2000, he earned a Master's in Psychology, Human Factors Engineering, at Mason.  Working in quality assurance, he realized that one of the company's products, VM: Operator, was an excellent platform for automated testing on the mainframe, and led a successful effort to offer that capability as a product.  During the current century, he has worked in quality assurance using automated testing at Landmark Systems, AOL, Q.Know, and Eloqua.

If you were starting your career today, what is the one piece of advice you would give yourself? Build a much more extensive Rolodex.  Contacts are of great value.

In what ways has your career path been unique or unconventional? Slid into a focus on human factors.

William is open to participating in informational interviews.
