Hon. Joshua C. Fiveson

BS Administration of Justice '10

The Honorable Joshua C. Fiveson is a veteran, an academic, and one of the youngest state judges in Texas. After graduating with honors from George Mason University, Judge Fiveson earned his JD from Harvard Law School. He later served as a law clerk for Chief Justice Hecht at the Supreme Court of Texas, Chief Judge Ohlson at the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, and Judge Willett at the Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Before taking the bench, Judge Fiveson distinguished himself as a military officer and was selected by the American Bar Association as the Navy’s 2020 “Outstanding Young Military Lawyer,” nominated as the Judge Advocate General’s “Military Justice Officer of the Year,” and received both civilian and military decorations—including the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the American Association of Justice’s Trial Advocacy Skills Award, and the Military Officers Association of America’s Award for Professional Excellence.

Additionally, Judge Fiveson’s scholarship has been featured nationally and he has served as a guest lecturer and fellow at myriad academic institutions. Above all else, Judge Fiveson’s most noteworthy titles are at home: he is the father of three rambunctious children and husband to the woman of his dreams.
