Eric Johnson

Eric Johnson is a George Mason alumnus whose career has bridged digital innovation, humanities scholarship, and service to his alma mater. While earning his MA in English at George Mason, he created Open Source Shakespeare, a free online edition of the complete works that has become one of the most widely used Shakespeare resources on the web, drawn on by students, actors, and scholars worldwide; he later donated the site to the university, where it remains freely available today.  

Johnson went on to serve as Director of Digital Access at the Folger Shakespeare Library, leading a team that tripled the Folger's online audience and built a range of resources for the public and researchers.

He has been a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences since 2009, serving as chair of the board for twelve years until spring 2026.  

Throughout his career, Johnson has led digital transformation, program management, and technology initiatives across academic, cultural, and corporate institutions. He currently serves as vice president of the Enterprise Program Management Office at Coronis Health.
