George Mason University offers several leadership development opportunities through the Organizational Development and Learning unit in Human Resources and Payroll. These programs range from structured year-long leadership development programs to individual coaching.
Leadership development for faculty is also available external to the university. While not exhaustive, the following longstanding programs are focused on faculty professional and career development:
American Council on Education Fellow Program offers a year long structured opportunity to learn from leaders at other institutions of higher education.
HERS Institute is a leadership development program for women in higher education. There is an intensive 12 day program and an extended weekend program.
Mason offers many opportunities to award and reward the outstanding work of the faculty. Many of these awards and related details can be found on the main Mason faculty site.
Mason Alumni association also has an annual award for faculty of the year.
Consider reviewing disciplinary and academic associations for external faculty awards.
