Zavin Smith, BA Integrative Studies '00, MA Telecommunications '03, CERG Leadership Studies '03, currently serves as senior director of development for University Advancement at George Mason University. He oversees the Office of Annual Giving and the Engagement Officer program. In addition, he raises major gift support for various initiatives across the university.
Previously, he served as the director of development for the Schar School of Policy of Government, as well as for the Honors College at George Mason. In this role, he created and managed the implementation of a strategic approach to alumni engagement, alumni activities, and fundraising, which includes major gifts, corporate donations, and in-kind resources. He also provides development support and counsel to the academic and alumni leadership.
Previously, Smith was the director of annual giving at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, where he managed the school’s annual giving program, including strategic planning and execution of constituent solicitations, matching gifts, online giving, and phone-a-thon programs. He has also served as director of annual giving for the American University Washington College of Law (WCL). Smith has received an outstanding alumni award from Mason’s School of Integrative Studies.
