Ailsa Ware Burnett, MA Sociology '96, is a newly elected Director on the College of Humanities and Social Sciences Board. Ailsa is currently the Capacity Building Coordinator with the Fairfax County Department of Neighborhood and Community Services. She has been a Fairfax County Government employee for 29 years and has spent most of her career serving in numerous capacities with the Juvenile Court.
Ailsa is a three-time George Mason alum completing the Fairfax County Public Service Fellows Program earning a Master of Public Administration Degree in 2008. Ailsa also earned a Master of Arts Degree in Sociology with a concentration is Crime, Delinquency, and Corrections in 1996 and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Administration in 1993.
Ailsa is a 2021 recipient of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences Alumni Service Award and a founding member of the Black Alumni Chapter.
Ailsa previously served as Director at Large, Historian, and Vice President of Partnerships and Sponsorships with the George Mason University Alumni Association Board. She is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated as well as Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated.
Ailsa enjoys spending time with her family, attending her teenage son’s sporting events, and traveling.
