Sidney Benitah arrived at Mason in the fall of 2012 with a strong background in language. Fluent in English and French, she tutored her fellow students in high school in speaking, understanding, and writing French, and in solidifying their understanding of French literature. She also volunteered as an ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) tutor at a local elementary school.
Sidney is continuing her strong academic standards at Mason, where she earned an impressive grade point average while working part-time off campus in her freshman year. To recognize her efforts, she has been awarded the Freshman Academic Achievement Scholarship for 2013-14. In addition, she received the Crème de la Crème Award, which recognizes a student not only based on excellent grades in French classwork, but who offers extraordinary participation and commitment to his or her French studies.
