Marisa Alonso joined the CHSS Advancement & Alumni Relations team as an Associate Director of Major Gifts in November 2024. She brings with her 20 year's experience in sales, communications and marketing gained as an owner of a successful insurance agency. In her most recent roles at two local area non-profits, Marisa wrote grant proposals and interfaced with individual donors, foundations and faith community partners, along with planning annual fundraising events.

Born and raised in Northern Virginia, Marisa received her BA in Politics, with a minor in Philosophy, from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.  A proud 20+ year Fairfax City resident, she can often be found enjoying the local community amenities and events and strolling the GMU campus with her husband and their middle school son and elementary aged daughter, or cheering on the Patriots at a basketball game.  

Marisa looks forward to cultivating relationships with Mason alumni, donors, and friends to determine how their philanthropic interests correspond with the College’s objectives.
