Alecia has a BS in Finance and a BA in English from the University of Florida. She spent several years working in the insurance industry and teaching at public schools in Florida before returning to school and completing her MA in English with a focus on composition and rhetoric at the University of North Florida. She later moved to California and taught writing in the community college setting to a demographic of primarily first-generation college students.
Alecia has also worked with a non-profit located in Haymarket, Virginia, where she concentrated on marketing, developing organizational processes, long-range planning, and cultivating community relationships.
Alecia joined the George Mason community in November 2015, serving first as a Development Assistant to the College of Humanities and Social Sciences Development team and now as their Associate Director of Development. She is the team's strategic development communities lead—managing corporate and foundation grant applications for CHSS centers and faculty research, writing donor-specific proposals, and working closely with the college's marketing and communications team to contribute alumni profiles for both the college's annual report and magazine, Horizon. Alecia also works with top prospects and major donors on their initiatives.
In her free time she enjoys creative writing, chalk painting, craft beer, cooking, and coincidental alliteration.
