What work are you doing now?

I am currently working at George Mason University in the Student Involvement office as a Program Coordinator for Student Organizations.

What do you like about it?

I enjoy being able to apply what I did in my degree work to my daily interactions with students. I feel as though I have good background knowledge of Mason, both as a professional and as a student.

How did your degree in the college prepare you to do this work?

I found three classes in my MAIS higher education concentration to be particularly helpful. The first was my class on diversity. It opened up my eyes to the challenges that some students face on a college campus. Second, I appreciated my History of Higher Education class. It helped me to explore the historical context of higher education in depth. Lastly, I appreciated my public policy class that I took as an elective. It allowed me to look at how higher education interacts with policy. These have all been helpful in my current position, giving me different perspectives and contexts for my students and overall higher education.
