CHSS Digest October 7, 2020

Fall greetings from the dean's office and the Graduate Academic Affairs team! This is a unique time for higher education, one of unsettling change, but also of meaningful questions about the intersections of culture, history, identity, and policy. In my short time at George Mason, I have been heartened by the faculty’s endlessly creative solutions to new and unforeseen obstacles, the staff’s patience and commitment to ushering us through, and the students’ vibrant insights and energy.

Advanced study is challenging even in a smooth climate; now in record-setting turbulence those challenges can feel daunting.  Please reach out and engage with the CHSS community for support, and find time to celebrate accomplishments, whether brief daily triumphs or larger career-defining moments. You are doing great work in challenging circumstances, and that deserves a moment to pause and say, “Well done.”

Associate Dean for Graduate Academic Affairs
