Mason's Commencement will be in-person on Friday, May 20, at 10:00 am. The college's Degree Celebration for the Humanities and Interdisciplinary Studies, including the School of Integrative Studies, takes place May 20 at 2:00 pm; the Degree Celebration for the Social Sciences takes place May 20 at 6:00 pm.

The Office of University Branding has created a branding kit for Mason's 50th anniversary, including a 50th anniversary mark, messaging, and new templates for units to use. Please follow the guidelines on the 50th branding site when using these materials.

Nominations for Mason's Presidential Awards for Faculty Excellence close on March 2. Nominees should be research/instructional faculty who excel in teaching; research and scholarship; social impact; or diversity and inclusion.

Mason's Office of Graduate Education has announced that it received 80 applications for the annual 3MT competition, including 17 from CHSS. Top ten finalists will advance to compete at Mason's Graduate Interdisciplinary Conference on April 8.

Professor Rachel Harmon of the University of Virginia will give a talk titled "Law and Orders: The Problem of Police Commands" on March 4, 2022. The Mastrofski Lecture is an annual event that honors Emeritus Professor Stephen Mastrofski, the first Chair of Mason's Department of Criminology, Law and Society.

Professor Lisa Newmark has retired from Mason after fourteen years of distinguished service to the Department of Criminology, Law and Society. (Thank you to James Willis for providing this appreciation!)

The NHA Annual Meeting brings together faculty, students, administrators, and representatives from scholarly societies, museums, archives, and other humanities organizations to build their capacity to advocate for the humanities. The program offers sessions on recruiting students to the humanities and making the case for the public value of the humanities in addition to trainings for Capitol Hill advocacy.
