Faculty Research and Development Awards (FRDA), funded by CHSS, are short-term awards that are designed to help tenured and tenure-track faculty initiate new programs of research and scholarship or enhance existing ones. FRDA Seed Funding Leading to External Funding provides funding ($10,000 - $15,000) for projects that position faculty to be more competitive when applying for external grant or fellowship funding. The project period is May 1, 2026-August 31, 2027.
The FY26 Call for Proposals will be available on the CHSS Research webpage (https://chss.gmu.edu/support/frda) by December 19, 2026.
Applications will be submitted online using Mason’s internal grants platform from Submittable (formerly WizeHive). The application portal will open in January 2026. Complete applications must be submitted no later than 5:00 PM on Friday, February 13, 2026, using the Submittable platform.
