Special CHSS Research Virtual Coffee: The Narrative of Productive Failure

CHSS Research

Wednesday, December 8, 2021 10:00 AM

Join us for a special CHSS Research Virtual Coffee about The Narrative of Productive Failure.

Please note that date of December's virtual coffee has been changed to December 8th. There will not be a virtual coffee on December 15th.

All academics have received discouraging news. Even when it is constructive criticism, it is not easy to hear or read. For this virtual coffee, participants will hear from a panel of CHSS faculty about the actions they take after having an application or manuscript declined or getting a less than optimal review. Panelists will give examples of how their reactions have changed over time and how they have learned to turn something that feels like a failure into something positive and productive.

After the panelists talk, there will be a time for discussion among all coffee attendees.

Faculty Panelists

Jane Flinn, Associate Professor, Psychology

Cynthia Lum, Professor, Criminology, Law, and Society

Graziella McCarron, Assistant Professor, School of Integrative Studies

Jessica Otis, Associate Professor, History and Art History

The Zoom meeting link is posted on the CHSS Research Resources SharePoint site under CHSS Research Virtual Coffee. If you do not have access to the CHSS Research Resources SharePoint site, you may request access here. Or if you prefer to be sent the link directly, please email Brooke Gowl. A formal RSVP is not required.
