Hodei Sultan earned her master’s degree in Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution from Mason’s School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution after earning her bachelor’s degree in Global Affairs with a concentration in Middle East and North Africa. Ms. Sultan’s experience includes program design, monitoring and evaluation in conflict countries, and developing policies and procedures for field programming and operations in highly fluid security and political environments. She also has extensive experience in strategic, program, and operational planning and budget management. Ms. Sultan has conducted several training workshops with university students in Afghanistan on peacebuilding and conflict resolution. She has also published on topics related to peace and conflict, gender, and youth empowerment in Afghanistan.
She has more than 10 years of experience working on issues related to gender, civil society, youth, peace education, peacebuilding and conflict resolution, through her work with the United States Institute of Peace. Hodei has served in several roles at U.S.I.P.: as a senior program specialist with its Afghanistan and Pakistan programs, as a program officer with its South and Central Asia program, and now as a Senior Program Manager in U.S.I.P.’s Asia Center.
Ms. Sultan is also an adjunct faculty member at Northern Virginia Community College, teaching undergraduate courses on peacebuilding and conflict resolution, and peace and stability operations. We truly appreciate that she has stayed active with Mason, both with the Global Affairs Program and with S-CAR.
