College of Humanities and Social Sciences Courses
Undergraduate
Course is designed as introduction to the resources of the university and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences for first year students. Exposes students to the faculty, staff, co-curricular opportunities, and the range of degree options and career pathways available across the college. Gives students tools and resources to for goal-setting and decision-making for personal, academic, and career success. May be repeated within the term for a maximum 4 credits.
Course is designed as introduction to the resources of the university and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences specifically for residential first year students as a learning community (LC). Exposes students to the faculty, staff, co-curricular opportunities, and the range of degree options and career pathways available across the college. Gives students tools and resources for goal-setting and decision-making for personal, academic, and career success. Limited to three attempts.
Speaker series featuring topics in the social sciences and humanities. Topics and speakers vary each semester. May be repeated within the term for a maximum 3 credits.
Course offers an advanced introduction to the resources of the university and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences designed especially for transfer students. Exposes students to the faculty, staff, co-curricular opportunities, and the range of degree options and career pathways available across the college. Gives students hands-on tools and access to resources for goal-setting and decision-making for personal, academic, and career success. Limited to three attempts.
A one-credit project designed to add a digital inquiry component to another course chosen in consultation with an advisor. With the guidance of course instructor and minor director students will propose and create a digital project related to the material of the course. Required for the digital humanities minor. Limited to two attempts.
Course is designed to support first-time undergraduate teaching assistants in CHSS courses. Students will learn practical skills, knowledge, and conceptual frameworks for effective peer teaching. Prior to enrolling in CHSS 490, students must receive faculty approval to serve as an undergraduate teaching assistant in a CHSS course. Limited to three attempts.
