2026-27 National Humanities Center Opportunities for Institutional Sponsors

The National Humanities Center advances scholarship, education, and public engagement in the humanities. Through its partnership with institutional sponsors, like the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at George Mason University, the NHC delivers a variety of opportunities for humanities faculty and students to grow professionally and personally, sharpen their skills, and connect with others who share their passion for exploring the depths of human experience. The Scholars at Work Webinars are offered to all faculty at NHC Institutional Sponsors.

NHC 2027-28 Residential Fellowship Program

Fellowships offer scholars the time, space, and support they need to pursue their work and the opportunity to take part in the Center's vibrant intellectual community. The Center invites applications for academic-year or semester-long residential fellowships. Fellows enjoy private studies, in-house dining, and the exceptional service of NHC librarians to access and acquire all types of research materials while in residence. Mid-career, senior, and emerging scholars with a strong record of peer-reviewed work from all areas of the humanities are encouraged to apply.  The Center is now accepting applications for the 2027-28 academic year with a deadline of October 1, 2026. For more information, please see the Application Eligibility Checklist, the Applicant Eligibility Checklist, and the Center’s FAQs.
