Faculty Research and Development Awards (FRDA), funded by CHSS, are short-term awards that are designed to help tenured and tenure-track faculty initiate new programs of research and scholarship or enhance existing ones. FRDA Seed Funding Leading to External Funding provides funding ($10,000 - $15,000) for projects that position faculty to be more competitive when applying for external grant or fellowship funding. The project period is May 1, 2026-August 31, 2027.
Applications for FRDA Seed Funding Leading to External Funding will be submitted online using Mason’s internal grants platform from Submittable (formerly WizeHive). The FY26 Call for Proposals with application instructions and additional information are available on the CHSS Faculty Research and Development Awards webpage (https://chss.gmu.edu/support/frda).
Complete applications must be submitted no later than 5:00 PM on Friday, February 13, 2026, using the Submittable (formerly WizeHive) platform. Late applications will not be accepted.
