2026–2027 Cullman Center Fellowship

The Dorothy and Lewis B. Cullman Center for Scholars and Writers is an international fellowship program open to academics, independent scholars, journalists, creative writers, translators, and visual artists whose work will benefit directly from access to the collections at the New York Public Library’s Stephen A. Schwarzman Building (formerly the Humanities and Social Sciences Library). A Cullman Center Fellow receives the use of an office with a computer, full access to the Library’s physical and electronic resources, and a stipend of $90,000 for a nine-month term at the Library (September 8, 2026-May 28, 2027). 

Applications will be submitted using the New York Public Library (NYPL) online application portal. Completed applications and supporting materials—research proposal, curriculum vitae, letters of recommendation, and creative writing sample or artwork sample.  If you are interested in applying for this fellowship, please submit a CHSS Pre-Award Request for Assistance Form (PRA form) and that will assign a CHSS Pre-Award Research Administrator to work with you on the application, and to give you CHSS’s internal deadline for submission.  The proposal is due to the NYPL must be submitted by September 26, 2025, 5 p.m. EDT
