Faculty Study Leaves for Tenured Instructional Faculty, funded by the Provost, provide paid leave during one semester or academic year to support their plan for scholarly research, teaching, and/or creative activity during the Faculty Study Leave. Tenured instructional faculty who meet eligibility criteria are encouraged to apply.
New in 2025! Eligible faculty who wish to apply for a Faculty Study Leave for Tenured Instructional Faculty will submit their application using Mason’s new internal grants and limited submission platform from WizeHive/Submittable. Successfully launched for the FRDA Seed Funding Leading to External Funding competition in the spring 2025 semester, CHSS Research has worked hard to develop an online Faculty Study Leave for Tenured Instructional Faculty application so that it is easy to prepare and submit materials.
More information on how to submit an application using WizeHive/Submittable will be available on our website later this summer. We will email tenured instructional faculty when they are available.
Faculty who wish to get a jump on preparing their Fall 2025 applications can review the Fall 2024 guidelines, as the proposal narrative will not change significantly for the Fall 2025 competition. The application deadline for faculty study leaves to be taken during the 2026-2027 Academic Year has been set for Friday, October 10, 2025.
