The College of Humanities and Social Sciences is pleased to welcome nominations for the 2024 Mary Roper Award. As the College’s most prestigious staff award, this recognition celebrates the exceptional contributions and achievements of a staff member who demonstrates unparalleled dedication, excellence, and impact in their role. The Mary Roper Award provides a unique opportunity to recognize and reward the notable accomplishments of individual CHSS classified staff members who have made significant contributions and demonstrated outstanding performance over the past year. Prior award winners are eligible.
The award is named for Mary Roper, an esteemed and beloved colleague, who worked in the Department of Biology, Office of the Provost, College of Arts and Science Dean’s Office, and the Office of the President for a total of over 30 years.
Please submit a letter of nomination to the Mary Roper Award Selection Committee, MSN 3A3, or via email to Jmlotkow@gmu.edu. Include a paragraph on the candidate’s background (i.e., length of service in the department and/or at George Mason University, position(s) held, department(s) worked in, etc.), and describe the candidate’s contributions that went above and beyond during the past year, specifically how the nominee has shown exceptional performance embodying the qualities honored by this award.
The Mary Roper Award will be presented at a reception on Tuesday, December 3 at 10:00 a.m., in George’s (Johnson Center 3rd Floor).
