IIR welcomes Elyse Adams as Program Coordinator

The Institute for Immigration Research (IIR) is excited to welcome Elyse Adams as Program Coordinator beginning in August of 2024. Elyse has worked as an Administrative Assistant for the IIR since January of 2024, performing logistical, organizational, and operational duties for the institution while completing her graduate degree.

The Program Coordinator collaborates with the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) team providing operational and administrative support for the IIR. In this role, Elyse will coordinate IIR sponsored events and support IIR initiatives and offer guidance to graduate and undergraduate students in IIR related tasks.

After receiving a BLS in Historic Preservation from the University of Mary Washington in 2016, Elyse worked in professional archaeological settings in both museums and cultural resource management firms for six years before choosing to move forward full-time with graduate school. Her current research interests include the bioarchaeological perspective and examination of the human skeleton to explore the complexities of health and biological stressors on past populations along the north coast of Peru. Elyse is completing her final semester of MA thesis work in Mason's department of Sociology and Anthropology.
