Meet Kathy Albarado, alumni speaker for the 2024 CHSS degree celebration ceremony

George Mason University's College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) is excited to announce that Kathy Albarado, BS Psychology '87, MAIS '91, will address graduates and their guests as the alumni speaker of the upcoming degree celebration on May 10. The celebration will will be held at EagleBank Arena at 2:30 p.m.

Albarado founded Helios HR, an award-winning human capital consulting and recruiting firm, nearly 23 years ago, with a commitment to aid leaders in solidifying strong human resource practices that build and enhance their corporate culture. Albarado and her team work with executives to help them establish a culture of intention—a culture that allows them to attract, retain, and engage exceptional people. Helios is known for helping their clients scale to their next stage of growth and have helped launch and grow hundreds of organizations ranging from start-ups to the Fortune 500.

A believer that all change of impact happens in community, Albarado is active on many boards. Albarado is a founding board member of the Donald G. Costello College of Business Women in Business Initiative, and she is active on the board of the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce, the Small Emerging Contractor’s Advisory Forum (SECAF), and the Washington Business Journal’s Bizwomen Leadership Council. Albarado has a special place in her heart for her involvement on the board of Leadership Mission International, a girls’ school in Honduras that she supports, and she welcomes all to join her on a trip to work with the amazing young women on campus.

An alum of Mason, Albarado holds her bachelor’s degree in psychology and her master’s degree in human resource management. She is also an active member of the Washington Business Journal’s Leadership Trust and Leadership Greater Washington.
