Over the past few weeks, faculty and staff in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences collected non-perishable food and personal hygiene items for Mason's Patriot Pantry. The supplies, which will help support students during winter break when the university is closed, were delivered to the Patriot Pantry on December 6.

CHSS Group PhotoThe goal was to collect 50 bags of food and personal hygiene items for students to pick up before winter break. Jennie Bush, faculty affairs assistant in the CHSS dean's office, coordinated the collection and was excited to share that CHSS faculty and staff contributed 40 grocery bags of personal hygiene items, and Wegmans donated an additional 50 bags of food! At an estimated average of 16 pounds per bag, 1,440 pounds of non-perishable food items and personal hygiene products made their way to the Patriot Pantry!

Bush said she reached out to the Fairfax Wegmans for any help they could provide to help the 50 students who use the Patriot Pantry, thinking they might donate a few bags of food. She was thrilled when Wegmans Service Desk Team Leader C.J. Coates responded by saying they would donate 50 bags full of groceries. In total, Wegmans donated $1,200 in groceries.

Thank you to all who donated to the college's collection and who directly support the pantry!
