Congratulations to Peter Boettke, Distinguished University Professor of Economics and Philosophy, who was awarded the Southern Economics Association (SEA) the Distinguished Fellow Award. SEA presented and honored its inaugural cohort of Distinguished Fellows on November 19, 2023, during its 93rd Annual Meeting in New Orleans. Karen Vaughn, Emeritus Faculty, Department of Economics, was also named a distinguished fellow.

The inaugural cohort consists of all living past Presidents of the Association, who are at least two years removed from office. Distinguished Fellows have a substantial record of exceptional scholarly achievement and long-term involvement and service to the Association.

Economics Chair Professor Daniel Houser said this distinguished honor is well deserved. “Throughout his 25 years at Mason, Dr. Peter Boettke has remained an amazingly productive scholar, authoring hundreds of academic journal articles, 14 books, and editing 20 volumes,” Houser said. “In view of his decades-long record as a prolific scholar with international influence, Dr. Boettke is exceptionally deserving of the Southern Economic Association's Distinguished Fellow award.”
