NSF Updates
NSF will be decommissioning FastLane this September and has been taking steps to get grantees used to submitting and accessing proposals via Research.gov. For those of you that still have historical proposals in FastLane, September 29, 2023 at 11:00pm EST will be the last date to access submitted or in-progress letters of intent, proposals, and supplemental funding requests. Make sure to log into the system in advance to download any historical proposal materials. For more information, see NSF’s decommissioning site.
Effective October 23, 2023, the use of SciENcv will be mandatory for generating NSF-style biosketches and current and pending documents. Many faculty members have already been using SciENcv and this platform may also be used to generate NIH and IES style documents, making it a great option for those faculty who submit proposals to multiple funders. Additional information on the NSF biosketches and current and pending can be found here.
NIH Updates
Effective October 5, 2023, the NIH will no longer require a separate Data Management and Sharing line-item within the budget, however the costs that will be used for Data Management and Sharing, including personnel costs, should be noted within the budget justification. See NOT-OD-23-161 for more information.
Additional resources for the Data Management and Sharing plan, including fillable templates, can be found on NIH’s Data Management and Sharing Policy site. As a reminder, Mason University Libraries are available to assist with this proposal component if given sufficient lead time. Please see the Research Data Management Basics site to get started.
