Here are some upcoming funding opportunities from the National Humanities Center, American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) and the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH):

 

 

National Humanities Center Fellowship Applications - deadline October 5, 2023

The National Humanities Center funds academic year or semester long residential scholarships.  Most proposals are for single-authored books, but other forms of written scholarly work are eligible.  Fellowship will provide stipend and cover travel expenses.

The American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) Digital Grant Program has two funding opportunities - deadline December 15, 2023

  1. ACLS Digital Justice Seed Grants - $10,000 and $25,000
  2. ACLS Digital Juice Development Grants - $50,000 and $100,000

ACLS updates to its Digital Justice Grant Program, include new eligibility requirements, evaluation criteria, and examples of application components from funded proposals.

National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) - deadlines September and October 2023

•NEH Humanities Connections - deadline September 7, 2023

This award (up to $150,000 for implementation grants) support the planning or implementation of curricular projects connecting the humanities to the physical and natural sciences; pre-service or professional programs, including law and business; computer science, data science, and other technology-driven fields; or other non-humanities departments or schools.  Projects must incorporate the approaches and learning activities of both the humanities and the non-humanities disciplines involved.

•Dynamic Language Infrastructure - Documenting Endangered Languages Senior Research Grants - deadline September 15, 2023

This award (up to $450,000) supports field work and other activities relevant to recording, documenting, and archiving endangered languages, including the preparation of lexicons, grammars, text samples, and databases.

•Spotlight on Humanities in Higher Education - deadline October 11, 2023

This award (up to $60,000) supports the exploration and development of small projects that would benefit underserved populations through teaching and study of the humanities.
