George Mason University will be co-hosting the Society of Research Administrators (SRA) International Virginia Chapter meeting on Friday, July 14th in Merten Hall. SRA International supports the advancement in research by providing education and professional development to members from over 40 countries. SRA International's diverse membership spans various research institutions including colleges and universities, research hospitals, government agencies, non-profit funders of research, and industry. The mission of SRA International is "to develop, define and promote international best practices in research management, administration, knowledge transfer and growth of the research enterprise".
The Virginia Chapter of SRA International serves the Commonwealth of Virginia with education, professional development, and networking opportunities. Rashmi Pershad, CHSS Associate Director of Pre-Award Research Administration, was an integral part of bringing the SRAI Virginia Chapter meeting to George Mason University and volunteered to help the SRA Planning Committee with coordinating the upcoming event. "I was approached by SRA Planning Committee looking for a new venue in Virginia to host the meeting. I thought it would be a great way to get people to learn more about Mason and for Mason research admins to network. Bringing this event to Mason was an exciting opportunity. Michele (Schwietz), CHSS Associate Dean for Research, and CHSS Dean's office provided so much support," Rashmi stated. Rashmi also serves on the SRAI Certificate Committee and has presented at several SRA meetings.
The Virginia Chapter Meeting of SRA International will take place on Friday, July 14th with Keynote Speaker, Dr. Brett Miller, Program Director of the Reading, Writing, and Related Learning Disabilities Program at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD). Mason Provost, Dr. Mark Ginsberg and Ms. Margaret B. Ewell, OSP Director of Pre-Award, will kick-off the meeting with a Welcome address.
