In preparation for celebrating Mason’s upcoming 50th anniversary, the Dean’s office would like to create a 50th anniversary celebration planning committee. We are inviting staff and faculty to nominate themselves for the committee.
Duties would include attending a regular planning meeting, perhaps bi-monthly, beginning in early December, such as:
- sharing and coordinating information about events in the college already planned,
- working with the central 50th anniversary celebration planning committee to ensure CHSS events are coordinated with those happening at the university level,
- promoting the events to our Mason and CHSS communities,
- as well as making recommendations about possible college specific events.

We expect the committee to be finalized after Thanksgiving holiday, so planning can kick off in early December. The university’s core series of events is planned for April 4-8 as a week of activities to celebrate the actual signing of the document that made Mason independent; we could also envision events before and after the anniversary’s signature week.
