Stearns wins AHA Award for Scholarly Distinction

Peter Stearns, Provost Emeritus and University Professor of History, has received the prestigious Award for Scholarly Distinction from the American Historical Association. Established in 1984, the award recognizes lifetime achievement in the historical profession. Through more than 135 authored or edited books, Stearns has throughly transformed the discipline, championing and defining social history, reshaping comparative and world history, and helping to found the history of emotions.
