Find Funding Opportunities Using SPIN

Searching for funding opportunities can be a daunting task, but there are a number of tools that can help, including SPIN, the  Sponsored Programs Information Network.

SPIN is an online-accessed database of federal, non-federal, and corporate funding opportunities designed to assist faculty and staff in the identification of external sources of support for research, education, and development projects. It is available to all Mason faculty, staff, and students with a Mason authenticated login.

To request an account for SPIN, go to and click "Need to create a new profile?"

By setting up an account, you can save and track opportunities of interest and funding searches. See this helpful SPIN Quick Guide for more information.

In addition to SPIN, you can find addition search tools at CHSS Research's External Funding Sources page.

If you have additional questions about SPIN or would like to arrange for a formal introduction to using SPIN, please contact Brooke Gowl.
