The continuity of research is of utmost importance to CHSS, and is guided by procedures found on Mason's Safe Return to Campus website. Please be sure to read the Research Continuity and Safety Plan to stay current with university guidance and requirements. Researchers who want to resume activities in university research facilities or carry out studies involving face-to-face data collection with human research participants must complete and submit a Request to Resume Research form (online form; login using Mason ID and password is required). Submissions must be approved by the Department Chair and Associate Dean for Research before being submitted to Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) for review of public health and safety requirements. After EHS approval, it is forwarded to the Dean for final approval. Student researchers needing research continuity approval must work with their faculty mentor who will submit the form on their behalf (students cannot submit the form directly). Researchers affected by travel restrictions can find up to date information on the Safe Return to Campus website's "travel" hyperlink at the bottom of that page.
You can find more information about the Research Continuity Guidelines on CHSS Research and Mason’s Research Continuity Guidelines webpages, including links to Mason’s Research Continuity and Safety Plan (PDF), the Request to Resume Research form, and the Research Reconstitution Checklist (PDF), as well as Frequently Asked Questions.
