Peter Leeson Elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts

Peter Leeson, George Mason University’s Duncan Black Professor of Law and Economics, was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts in recognition of his outstanding contribution to research in the field of economics.

Since its founding in 1754, the Royal Society of the Arts has been a dedicated enlightenment organization whose mission is to enrich society through ideas and actions. The Royal Society of the Arts is supported by an international community of 28,000 Fellows. Fellows share powerful ideas to address current social challenges and to help make society flourish. Former Fellows include Adam Smith and Karl Marx and current Fellows include Stephen Hawking and Tim Berners-Lee.

Leeson is the author of the award-winning The Invisible Hook: The Hidden Economics of Pirates. He recently published his book WTF?! An Economic Tour of the Weird, which uses economic thinking to examine the world’s strangest customs.
