Describe your dissertation, thesis, or capstone (if you completed one):

Transfusing blood plasma from young mice into Alzheimer's disease mice to try to ameliorate the behavioral and chemical deficits found in Alzheimer's disease

How did you choose your specific area of study?

I knew I liked psychology, but I also loved laboratory sciences. Neuroscience was a perfect marriage of both. While in Dr. Flinn's lab I was able to learn many laboratory techniques and behavioral testing in mice to be able to compare behavior with brain chemistry.

How did your academic experiences in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences impact you?

I believe that I became a better lecturer which made me more comfortable with public speaking which is a valuable skill.

Of which accomplishment(s) during your time at Mason are you most proud?

Being able to bounce back from having to restart my entire dissertation because Mason closed due to COVID

Are there faculty or staff members who made a difference during your Mason career?

Mike Hock helped me starting with my Master's and was always there when I needed someone to talk to about student related issues or lab related issues.

What advice would you give to an incoming cohort of graduate students?

Find students in the department/in your lab that are experienced and can you can learn from/ask for advice.

Continue to teach at GMU in the psychology department while trying to publish
