What activities were you involved in during your time at Mason that impacted you?
Independent Research on Women's Rights in the Middle East, Study Abroad through Africa Zooms Ahead, and the American Cancer Society Club.
Did you have a favorite class or professor?
My favorite CHSS class is actually my own independent study (HIST 490 with Dr. Stearns): Women's Rights in the Modern Middle East. In the wake of the death of Mahsa Amini in Iran, it has allowed me to explore the history of Women's Rights in the region. Also, as an Iranian-American, it has allowed me to understand what my family has gone through in Iran and has made me grateful for the opportunities I have in the United States.
What is your most memorable moment at Mason?
My most memorable moment at Mason was when I hosted a Halloween bake sale with my club. A friend of mine dressed up in a Krusty Krab costume, while I chose to wear a witch hat, and the looks we received while selling baked goods were hilarious. It definitely drew people to our kiosk, though!
What is your next step? What are your future plans?
My next step is to apply to graduate school. I hope to use my graduate degree to serve the government in the future.
As you are reflecting on your time at Mason, what is one piece of advice you would give a student who is just starting off on their Mason journey?
I'd say take your time and take everything at your own pace! Four years for a college degree is an estimated timeline. You know what you're capable of and what you need to get done in addition to your degree. Take things at your own pace.
