Adjunct Faculty Committee calls for nominations, announces town hall

Mason’s Adjunct Faculty Committee was formed to consider issues, challenges, and concerns with respect to members of Mason’s adjunct faculty, and to make recommendations to address such issues while also promoting the importance and inclusion of our adjunct faculty as integral members of the Mason community.

The Adjunct Faculty Committee currently includes twelve members of our university community:

  • Shannyn Snyder (co-chair), adjunct professor, College of Health and Human Services
  • Jaime Lester (co-chair), associate dean of faculty affairs, College of Humanities and Social Sciences
  • Auzzie Brown, adjunct professor, School of Business
  • Amy Gleason Carroll, adjunct professor, College of Education and Human Development
  • Richard D. Christ, adjunct professor, College of Humanities and Social Sciences
  • Kim Eby, associate provost, Faculty Affairs and Development
  • Savannah Fetterolf, adjunct professor, College of Humanities and Social Sciences
  • Richard Groover, adjunct professor, College of Science
  • Timothy Hope, adjunct professor, Volgenau School of Engineering
  • Lawrence Leiser, adjunct professor, College of Humanities and Social Sciences
  • Michelle Lim, assistant vice president, Human Resources and Payroll
  • Char Mollison, senior fellow and member of affiliated faculty, Schar School of Policy and Government

The committee has made a call for nominations for two new members of the Mason adjunct faculty to join the Adjunct Faculty Committee for a two-year term beginning in fall 2022.

Appointed individuals may serve up to two two-year terms. If you would like to be considered for membership, please send an email by Friday, April 8, 2022, indicating your interest in serving on the committee, your academic unit, a brief summary of your experience as an adjunct faculty member at Mason with respect to the nomination criteria (below) and a copy of your CV to jbush21@gmu.edu with the subject line “Adjunct Committee Nomination.”

Nomination criteria for evaluation for nominees is as follows:

  • Regularly teaches course at Mason as an adjunct faculty member
  • Articulates their commitment to improving the work lives of adjunct faculty
  • Clearly expresses their commitment to and any experience in diversity, equity, and inclusive excellence

Virtual Adjunct Faculty Town Hall

A virtual adjunct faculty town hall will be held on Saturday, April 9, at 2:30 p.m., over Zoom.
