Apply Now to be a Faculty Fellow for Faculty Affairs and Development

The Office of the Provost is searching for a full-time tenured faculty member to serve as a Faculty Fellow for Faculty Affairs and Development (pending funding). The faculty fellow will work closely with the associate provost for faculty affairs and development to coordinate the Faculty Mentoring Communities program for the 2021-2022 academic year. The Faculty Mentoring Communities program supports early career tenure-track faculty in their career transition to Mason. 

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Working with the faculty affairs and development team to update program materials;
  • Participating in orientation of incoming distinguished mentors;
  • Preparing for and conducting regular planning meetings with the distinguished mentors;
  • Collaborating with the distinguished mentors to capture and implement feedback; and
  • Maintaining lines of communication among faculty mentoring communities participants, distinguished mentors, and faculty affairs and development.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Relevant academic expertise – scholarly attention to, knowledge of, or a record of leadership in mentoring, faculty career advancement, professional development, etc. 
  • Experience mentoring faculty in one’s professional field and/or academic unit

Successful applicants will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, experience managing programs and/or projects, a record of productive collaboration across disciplines and fields of study at Mason, and a record of excellence in teaching, learning, and scholarship. This position will begin in the fall 2021 semester and continue through the 2021-2022 academic year, with some summer work. Compensation will be determined in collaboration with relevant LAU leadership and/or the dean.
