Fellowships and residency opportunities at Oak Spring

The Oak Spring Garden Foundation  (OSGF) located in Upperville, Virginia is now accepting applications for 2026 Interdisciplinary Residences and Fellowships. The goal of the program is to provide individuals with the time and space to pursue their own creative projects alongside other residents who may be examining plants, landscapes, gardens, and the natural world from different perspectives. The Interdisciplinary Residency Program supports individuals working in the following four overlapping, very broad, categories: Artists and Writers; Researchers and Scholars in the Humanities; Conservation Scientists and Practitioners; and Plan and Ecological Scientists.  The Fellowship Program includes a $10,000 individual grant for early-career practitioners and requires a two-to-five week stay on site.

The OGSF is supported from the gifts of Ms. Rachel “Bunny” Lambert Mellon, which invests in people and encourages the development of individuals who can be leaders in advancing the foundation’s mission. One of the three key principles that guide the investments by OSGF includes integrative approaches that bring together sciences, humanities, and social sciences for their mutual benefit and to realize the full potential of Bunny Mellon’s legacy.

The OSGF application portal is now open and will close May 31, 2025. Click here for the 2026 Residency and Fellowship Opportunities.
