Honoring Indigenous Peoples’ Day
In this video, Gabrielle A. Tayac, associate professor of public history at George Mason University and a member of the Piscataway Indian Nation, discusses the significance of Indigenous Peoples’ Day and the importance of honoring Indigenous history and culture. She highlights Virginia’s deep connections to Indigenous communities and shares how George Mason University offers opportunities to engage with Native American history through programs and initiatives, including an undergraduate student-led exhibit titled Offerings to the Potomac Lands, done in conjunction with the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Mason Exhibits, and the Center for Humanities Research. The exhibit will be on display at the Fairfax Campus in February 2025.
