Johnson Center, Cinema

This Stained Dawn, ‘Dagh Dagh Ujala’ in Urdu, recounts the effects of the 1947 partition of India and Pakistan from the points of view of the men, women, and children who lived through the historic world event whose ramifications continue today.

The partition led to the mass migration of 14 million people, and resulted in the loss of 1 million lives.

A U.S. Embassy grant and a Fulbright Specialist program funded the Voices of Pakistan program, which collected the personal stories of those affected by the partition and seeks to share them with future generations.

Admission to the event is free, but tickets are required. Information on ordering tickets is to the right.

Hosted by The Institute for Immigration Research and the Center for Social Science Research, George Mason University.
