Voice as a Bridge: Multicultural Poems and Songs

Voice as a Bridge: Multicultural Poems and Songs will feature poems read by poets and writers representing different cultures, including Andrew Wong, Jona Colson, Diane Wilbon Parks, William Gilcher, Mike Maggio, Chong McDermott, Zeina Azzam, Karren Alenier, and Majda Gama.
The program will also include a vocal recital in multiple languages by Rosaline Pi of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, a Q&A with Dr. Liang Luo, Chair of Modern and Classical Languages at George Mason University, and Grace Cavalieri, Maryland Poet Laureate, as well as a sing-along of “Auld Lang Syne” in different languages conducted by Wing Chi Chan.
Guests will also enjoy a calligraphy demonstration with gifts provided by architect Joseph Lo. Admission is free, with a reception hosted by the Department of Modern and Classical Languages at George Mason University.
