Proposal Writing 101 with Dr. Barbara Endemaño Walker, Research Development Professional

CHSS Research is pleased to be sponsoring three upcoming workshops presented by Dr. Barbara Endemaño Walker, Research Development Professional. These workshops will focus on research and grant writing strategies for the humanities and social sciences, and include:
- Strategic Planning for Productive Research Careers – February 17, 2022, 2:00-4:00 PM EST
- Proposal Writing 101 – February 24, 2022, 2:00-4:00 PM EST
- Anatomy of a Winning Proposal – March 7, 2022, 2:00-4:00 PM EST
CHSS Research will host the second workshop, Proposal Writing 101.
Proposal Writing 101 will cover the following.
- Research Strategic Planning
- Finding the Right Funding
- Interpreting RFPs and Determining Funding Fit
- Agency Review Processes
- Communicating with Program Officers
- Framing Your Research Questions
Our presenter Dr. Barbara Endemaño Walker has a Ph.D. and M.A. in Geography from UC Berkeley and a B.A. in Anthropology and African Studies from UCLA. She concurrently serves as the Director of Research Development and the Special Assistant to the Executive Vice Chancellor for Diversity Initiatives at UCSB. Prior to joining the Office of Research, she was an NSF Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Anthropology and the National Center for Geographic Information and Analysis (NCGIA) at UCSB. She was a founding board member of the National Organization of Research Development Professionals (NORDP), and she currently leads the Center for Research, Excellence, and Diversity in Team Science. She is also co-author of the book Funding Your Research in the Humanities and Social Sciences: A Practical Guide to Grant and Fellowship Proposals (Routledge 2017).
Each participant will receive a copy of Dr. Endemaño Walker’s book, “Funding Your Research in the Humanities and Social Sciences”, to keep and use during the workshop.
Please RSVP no later than February 17, 2022, to ensure we have time to get your book to you. After registering, you will receive the Zoom meeting into formation no later than 2 days before the workshop.
Registrations are limited to 30 participants and priority will be given to CHSS faculty and postdocs. Should registrants exceed the limit stated, additional registrants will be put onto a waitlist. If any slots become available due to cancelations, vacated slots will be offered in order the registrations were received.
