What was the most impactful class you took in your major?
PHIL 421 Capstone Seminar, Nietzsche and Foucault taught by Dr. Rachel Jones. Dr. Jones' teaching style was perfect for discussing why we value our values. The readings, Genealogy of Morals and Discipline and Punishment, have shaped my way of thinking and influences most of my life and how I view other philosophical works.
What activities were you involved in during your time at Mason that impacted you?
I went to the BJJ club once, and I had an internship at the Office of the US Trade Representative. The club was very welcoming and I enjoyed it, while the internship was enlightening and allowed me to connect with people in the federal government who inspired me to pursue law school.
What is your most memorable “Mason moment?”
My most memorable moments have always been the office hours I have had with my various professors. Specifically, I have also enjoyed conversations with Prof. Kinnaman, Prof. Jones, and Prof. Kuykendall. Just being able to converse with such intelligent people has left a lasting impact on my educational pursuit.
As you are reflecting on your time at Mason, what is one piece of advice you would give a student who is just starting off on their Mason journey?
Go to office hours and take ownership of your educational career.
What is your next step after graduation? What are your future plans?
I plan to continue working at Leidos for the near future before transitioning to law school.
