How did you choose your degree program?

I chose my degree program largely due to my passion for supporting community development and with the help and advice of my professors, advisors, and RA.

How did your academic experiences in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences impact you?

I was able to learn from a variety of amazing, accomplished professors, who helped me broaden my worldview and develop a strong understanding of academic research and theory.

What accomplishment(s) during your time at Mason are you most proud of?

I am graduating with Honors in Global Affairs, after completing a year long thesis project on the experiences of social support for LGBT+ people in Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires.

Are there faculty or staff members who made a difference during your Mason career? Please give an example of this impact if possible.

Dr. Doestch-Kidder was my faculty supervisor in my OSCAR RA position for a year and a half, and was hugely influential in helping me develop my interests and professional skills, and supporting me throughout my undergraduate career. Dr. Shannon Davis and Professor Garey Davis were two amazing professors I had as well, that truly challenged me in the classroom and taught incredible classes.

What are your current career plans following graduation? What are your long-term career goals?

I am starting a Masters in Social Work at the University of Washington in the fall of 2022. I hope to go on to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and work as a therapist for LGBT+ youth.
