How did you choose your degree program?
I chose Anthropology because human culture and archaeology has been an interest of mine since I was a freshman in high school. I chose my French major because I have been learning French since 8th grade and I never want to quit using the language.
How did your academic experiences in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences impact you?
My academic experiences in CHSS have allowed me to participate in many conversations on numerous issues in our society. Those conversations have prepared me to discuss those sometimes difficult topics outside of the university environment, and have made me more well-spoken in general.
What accomplishment(s) during your time at Mason are you most proud of?
During my time at Mason I had the privilege of studying abroad in Paris during the summer of 2019 through the French program. I am the first in my immediate family to attend a 4-year college as well as the first to travel abroad. I am very proud of the time I spent in Paris because I feel that I fully immersed myself in the language and culture, and this immersion drastically improved my oral communication in French and made me a more well-rounded individual.
Are there faculty or staff members who made a difference during your Mason career? Please give an example of this impact if possible.
My undergraduate career at Mason would not have been the same without my professors who are passionate about their fields and genuinely want to see students succeed - namely Dr. Susan Trencher, Dr. Daniel Temple, Dr. Haagen Klaus, Dr. Raluca Romaniuc, and Dr. Christy Pichichero.
What are your current career plans following graduation? What are your long-term career goals?
After graduation, I will be continuing my studies at Mason in the MA Anthropology program under the mentorship of Dr. Daniel Temple. As for my future career, I would like to do bio-anthropological research in France and other francophone countries as well as find ways to make the field of anthropology more accessible to the general public.
