How did you choose your specific area of study?
I chose global affairs because in school I was always interested in learning about the world around me. I’ve always been interested in new technologies and the good that they can create in the world. I figured that specializing in global conflict and security would be a good way for me to understand how current and future technology can solve world problems as they arise.
How did your academic experiences in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences impact you?
My academic experiences have helped me grow as a more well rounded individual who is ready to be a force for positive change in the both my professional career and in my personal life.
What accomplishment(s) during your time at Mason are you most proud of?
The accomplishment that I am most proud of during my time at Mason is when I was selected as an award winner for a scholarship hosted by CHSS my freshman year.
Are there faculty or staff members who made a difference during your Mason career? Please give an example of this impact if possible.
Professor Niklas Hultin helped me decide to complete an accelerated masters in global affairs by describing the opportunities available in the program that would help me grow in my professional career, such as the study abroad in Cuba and the creative capstone project.
What advice would you give to an incoming cohort of graduate students?
If you want to succeed you have to invest time into the material that professors provide. If you have the chance to break up the workload throughout the week it will help you absorb the material and keep you ahead of due dates.
What are your current career plans following graduation? What are your long-term career goals?
My career plans following graduation are to work for the government. My long term career goals are to make an impact in improving global human security.
