The Career Panel event held on February 4th on the Fairfax Campus was an excellent event. We had representatives from the following organizations:

The Federal Aviation Administration
Job Title:  Manager of the Planning and Program Management Staff, Air Traffic Safety Oversight Service

The Department of Defense
Job Title:  Budget Analyst in the Defense Threat Reduction Agency

Fairfax County
Job Title:  Director, Department of Public Works and Environmental Services

National Association of Home Builders
Job Title: Executive Director of the Business Management Department

Fairfax County
Job Title:  Assistant Director, Department of Human Resources

The Duetto Group
Job Title:  President of the Duetto Group.  Duetto Groups is a Captiol Hill based government consulting firm.

The Merit Systems Protection Board
Job Title:  Clerk of the Board

The panel talked about their current job, how the MPA has helped them in their career, how they landed their first job in the public sector and what skills their organizations are looking for in today's applicants.  They gave suggestions on how an applicant can set themselves apart so they can land that important first interview.

We plan to hold the second MPA Career Panel at our Arlington Campus next semester.
